Newfront Taps Industry Veteran Matthew Summers as Construction Leader

Summers joins Newfront, a Top-40 Insurance Broker, to expand both Construction expertise and footprint in Texas
Newfront, the tech-driven insurance brokerage based in San Francisco, has appointed Matthew Summers to oversee the company’s Construction Practice and serve as Newfront’s Regional Managing Director for Texas.
Summers joins from Marsh, where he was the US Central Zone Construction Practice Leader. Risk & Insurance named him a Construction Power Broker in 2021.
“Matt will add considerable technical expertise as well as expand marketing opportunities for our existing team of industry-leading Construction & Surety professionals,” said Newfront CEO Spike Lipkin. “As Texas continues to experience unprecedented population growth, Matt’s leadership will be instrumental in broadening Newfront’s footprint in the state.”
Prior to Marsh, Summers was North America Project Insurance Practice Leader at Willis Towers Watson, focusing on the marketing, national sales, account development, and execution of contractor controlled insurance programs (CCIPs), owner controlled insurance programs (OCIPs), and project programs.
“The risk management needs for owners, developers, and contractors are complex and ever-evolving,” said Summers. “Newfront’s approach of combining strong insurance expertise with cutting-edge technology will allow our team to provide even more innovative solutions for clients.”
Summers holds a degree in Financial Services and Risk Management from the University of North Texas and previously served on the Texas Southeast Regional Board of Directors for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.
